Rodin’s bust of Luisa Lynch de Morla Vicuña (1864–1936), a writer and journalist who was married to the Chilean ambassador, was widely regarded as the best sculpture exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1888. The elegant and confident tilt of her head evokes the "refined, witty duel" that the artist and sitter enjoyed while creating this portrait....
